Emet is the Hebrew word the Old Testament translates as “truth” or “faithfulness”. It comes from a root meaning to be firm, solid and reliable; amen comes from the same root. In Exodus 34:6 God describes himself as abounding in steadfast love and emet: he is the One who keeps his word.
