KorrespondensieteorieCorrespondence Theory

The correspondence theory says a statement is true when it matches the way reality is. “There is milk in the fridge” is true if there is milk in the fridge. The classic formulation comes from Aristotle (Metaphysics IV.7). The classical Christian tradition adds that things themselves are true because they match God’s thoughts.
