Vraag 27: Wat verstaan jy onder die voorsienigheid van God? Antwoord: Die almagtige en oralteenwoordige krag van God¹, deur welke Hy hemel en aarde met al die skepsels soos met sy hand nog onderhou² en so regeer dat loof en gras, reën en droogte, vrugbare en onvrugbare jare, voedsel en drank, gesondheid en siekte, rykdom en armoede en alles nie by geval nie, maar uit sy Vaderhand ons toekom³.

Vraag 28: Watter nut het dit vir ons om te weet dat God alles deur sy voorsienigheid geskape het en onderhou? Antwoord: Dat ons in alle teëspoed geduldig¹, in voorspoed dankbaar² en vir die toekoms in ons getroue God en Vader volkome vertrouend sal wees³, dat geen skepsel ons van sy liefde kan skei nie, aangesien alle skepsels só in sy hand is dat hulle sonder sy wil nie kan roer of beweeg nie⁴.

Question 27: What do you understand by the providence of God? Answer: The almighty and ever-present power of God¹, by which he still upholds, as it were with his hand, heaven and earth and all creatures², and so governs them that leaf and blade, rain and drought, fruitful and barren years, food and drink, health and sickness, riches and poverty, and all things, in fact, come to us not by chance but by his fatherly hand³.

Question 28: What advantage is it to us to know that God has created and by his providence still upholds all things? Answer: That we may be patient in adversity¹, thankful in prosperity², and for the future have good confidence in our faithful God and Father³, that no creature shall separate us from his love, since all creatures are so completely in his hand that without his will they cannot so much as move⁴.
