Sondag 18Lord's Day 18

Sondag 18

Skrifverwysings: 1: Matteus 26:11; Johannes 16:28 2: Matteus 28:20

Skrifverwysings: 1: Johannes 3:13; Kolossense 2:9

Lord’s Day 18

Question 46: How do you understand the words “He ascended into heaven”? Answer: That Christ, before the eyes of His disciples, was taken up from the earth into heaven,¹ and that He is there for our benefit until He comes again to judge the living and the dead.²

Scripture References: 1: Acts 1:9-11 2: Hebrews 7:24-25

Question 47: Is Christ, then, not with us until the end of the world, as He has promised us? Answer: Christ is true man and true God. As man He is no longer on earth,¹ but as God, in majesty, grace, and Spirit, He is never absent from us.²

Scripture References: 1: Matthew 26:11; John 16:28 2: Matthew 28:20

Question 48: But if His human nature is not present wherever His divinity is, are not the two natures of Christ then separated from each other? Answer: Not at all, for since His divinity is incomprehensible and everywhere present, it must follow that it is indeed beyond the bounds of the human nature which He has taken on, but is nevertheless personally united with it.¹
