Vraag 126: Wat is die vyfde bede? Antwoord: “En vergeef ons ons skulde, soos ons ook ons skuldenaars vergewe” beteken: Om U ontwil, moet U ons, arme sondelaars, al ons sondes en ook die boosheid wat nog altyd aan ons kleef, nie toereken nie¹, net soos ons ook van harte aan ander vergewe².

Question 126: What is the fifth petition? Answer: “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” means: For the sake of Christ’s blood, do not impute to us, miserable sinners, any of our transgressions, nor the evil which still clings to us,¹ as we also find this evidence of Thy grace in us, that it is our sincere intention to forgive our neighbour heartily.²
