Vraag 29: Waarom word die Seun van God “Jesus”, dit is Verlosser, genoem? Antwoord: Omdat Hy ons van al ons sondes verlos¹, en omdat daar by niemand anders enige saligheid te soek of te vind is nie².

Vraag 30: Glo dié ook in die enigste Verlosser Jesus wat hulle saligheid en welstand by die heiliges, by hulleself of elders soek? Antwoord: Nee, want alhoewel hulle Hom met die mond roem, verloën hulle Hom in die werklikheid¹. Daar is net een van twee: Óf Jesus is nie ‘n volkome Verlosser nie, óf diegene wat hierdie Verlosser met ‘n ware geloof aanneem, moet alles in Hom hê wat vir hulle saligheid nodig is².

Question 29: Why is the Son of God called “Jesus,” that is, Saviour? Answer: Because he saves us from all our sins¹, and because salvation is not to be sought or found in anyone else².

Question 30: Do those also believe in the only Saviour Jesus who seek their salvation and well-being from saints, from themselves, or from any other source? Answer: No. Though they boast of him in words, they in reality deny the only Saviour Jesus¹. For one of two things must be true: either Jesus is not a complete Saviour, or those who by true faith accept this Saviour must find in him all that is necessary for their salvation².
