Vraag 104: Wat wil God in die vyfde gebod hê? Antwoord: Dat ek my vader en moeder en almal wat oor my gestel is, met alle eer, liefde en trou eerbiedig en gehoorsaam¹, en ook met hulle gebreke geduld het², omdat dit God behaag om ons deur hulle hand te regeer³.

Question 104: What does God require in the fifth commandment? Answer: That I show all honour, love, and faithfulness to my father and mother, and to all those in authority over me,¹ submit myself with due obedience to all their good instruction and correction,² and also bear patiently with their infirmities, since it is God’s will to govern us by their hand.³
